Who needs a 5 minute test?

For jobs, exams and honest self-measurement, longer is better. This test runs a full five minutes — settle in and type at a pace you can hold.

Many employers and exam boards use longer tests because they measure consistency, not just burst speed. Over five minutes, posture, rhythm and error control matter more than fast fingers — exactly the skills real work typing needs.

Pace yourself: aim for the speed you could keep for an hour, and fix mistakes only when a word goes badly wrong — constant backspacing usually costs more time than it saves. Your result graph will show whether your speed faded or held steady across the five minutes.
