      Typing for programmers

Code is full of brackets, semicolons and symbols that normal typing tests never touch. This test uses short, real code snippets — start typing.

Programming text is roughly one symbol for every three letters, so a high score on plain words does not guarantee fast coding. This test mixes JavaScript, Python, SQL and shell-style lines, with the brackets, quotes and operators that slow developers down.

The biggest wins in code typing are boring ones: hitting brackets without looking, and letting your editor close pairs for you in real work while you build raw accuracy here. Watch your mistakes list after each test — most programmers find two or three symbols doing all the damage.
